One potential counterveiling argument would be, as recession in US and developed world increases, the purchase of low cost consumer staples from countries such as China, India etc., could increase due to low cost competiveness. This may well also provide an opportunity for China and India to begin exporting low cost automobiles to N. America and Europe. Such could actually help GM as they have a JV with the Chinese in China,
