Yes could be true but the stake they take will be some % and not a big chunk.

Institutionals like pension funds in Europe have big stakes in major companies who has built up a steady grow trough the years and have a long track record.

You have also speculative funds too which are concentrated on some particular business .But they trade with these stocks too.If we look to CLL most of the daily trades are done by the same houses.But also these houses gave recommendations too like Raymond James.

I'm in stocks for more then 20 years and during this time I've read a lot of articles from analyst and other stock related news papers and bank analyst based on all kinds of information.But finally my conclusion is that they just don't know.Sometimes a bullish advice takes the stock in a downtrend and vice versa. Have these guys a cristal bowl to look in?

Best thing to me is just do some DD and try to think the most logical way but also have some patience .Also looking to the chart pattern is not bad too to pick up a good moment .

Since last weeks CLL is building up some strength in the chart but to reach the all time high there is a lot of resistance on the way up.Only different thing to me is that from this year on we can rely on coming up # from actual production so right now we could see higher bottoms coming up in the chart.But to say that shorters will leave the place in coming months I doubt about it.Only thing I think they will place there playing levels on a higher scale.
