While we are waiting for news on production - here is my .02 re windpower.

1.  - It is already profitable for the developers - see below - I believe the 20 year agreement with the Ontario Govt. starts with the Govt. paying .13 /KWH  - this same power is sold to consumers for 04.5-05.5 /KWH.  As doubleeagle mentioned the windpower produced is far less than 1% of the total from all sources (Hydro - 32%, Fossil - 24%, Nuclear 44%)

Prince Wind Energy Project
The Prince Wind Energy Project comprises 126 wind turbines extending over nearly 20,000 acres. With a total installed capacity of 189 megawatts (MW), Prince is now the largest wind farm in Canada.

Completed in November, 2006, the Prince Wind Energy Project is located northwest of Sault Ste. Marie, in Northern Ontario. The project was constructed in two phases, each with its own 20-year power purchase agreement with the Ontario Power Authority.

2. - Debating whether wind farms or massive tar sands excavations are a worse blight on the environment is surely a moot point.  Both have long-term consequences which I believe will ultimately limit further expansion as the general public becomes more aware.

3. - Connacher's in situ development (whether fueled by steam or by some other method) seems to offer a way of getting the bitumin out, without the obvious visual environmental problems (no I haven't forgotten about the gas that we have to burn to get the steam)

Sure hope we get some positive production news soon.  Perhaps the Alberta Govt is also waiting for news before approving Pod 2.

Best wishes of the season to all.
