Media Coverage: “Colossus Minerals drilling Serra Pelada Project” by Ellsworth Dickson (Resource World Magazine)
January 29, 2009
Following the receipt of encouraging drill results from the Serra Pelada Project in Para state, northern Brazil, Colossus Minerals Inc. [CSI-TSX] and joint venture partner, COOMIGASP, have begun the Phase II drilling program on the gold-platinum-palladium prospect. The 5,000-metre program, to be completed by May 2009, involves step-out drilling toward the historic Serra Pelada open pit as well as further resource delineation work on the Central Mineralized Zone.
COOMIGASP, a registered Brazilian Cooperative company, was granted an Exploration License by the Ministry of Mines & Energy in March 2007. The 100-hectare license is centred on the Serra Pelada pit. In July 2007, Colossus and COOMIGASP formed a partnership to develop the remaining bedrock mineralization at Serra Pelada. Under the terms of the joint venture, Colossus is operator and can earn a majority interest by funding exploration and paying COOMIGASP a premium for the gold reserve established by the joint venture.
