I think this is very good news. I know that Merck is shutting a few of their locations, the closest being in Montreal, so it is possible that the technical skills of Cardiogenics have solved some problems for Merck.
It also gives a back up plan for each side to coat the beads the other produces. That should mean even more revenue for Cardiogenics if they get a contract to coat the Merck manufacturered beads. Certainly a win-win I believe.
