Camino Rojo Mexico : In-situ - 4.0 million ounces gold; 68.32 million ounces of silver.
Original position was 12,000 sh of Colby Mines Ltd. since early 1980, which for many years had NO value (good reason to be long). This company became Canplats in 2000 and the 12,000 shares became 2400 shares in a 5 to 1 reverse split. I checked on the stock every once in a while. Caught wind of the Camino Rojo discovery and added substantially to the position @$2.25.
I have been a gold miner since 1977 and have a fascination for the geology of gold deposits. I have a MS in Geology and served a 3 year stint as an exploration geologist and then Mine Geologist for Viceroy Resources' Castle Mountain Mine in south eastern California. I know very little about the nuances of playing stocks.
I post hear because I am excited to be a small part of this discovery, in a vicarious way. As much as I would like to see my money grow, I also have a burning curiosity to learn the nature of this gold deposit; so my yearning for news is twofold.
I have a different career now but still work my placer claims each summer and hope to spend my retirement holding the nozzle of my suction dredge. I helped my brother-in-law patent a gold claim in a wilderness area in the late 1990's, one of the last full half certificates issued by the US Govt. I have no hidden agendas as has been speculated, just a simple fascination with the planet and its natural treasures AND a desire to make some money from this investment.
