Message: Enegi oil article.

Marlin,

We don't know the truth about Green Point. I think the point is that it has been difficult to extract either oil or gas from Shale because shale is not a porous rock. From what I have read and articles posted here, modern horizontal drilling coupled with fracturing makes it more possible to extract both. I think Alan Minty was just giving an example of a shale play that has been exploited successfully using these techniques. Hopefully we will learn today whether it is kerogen, or liquid oil in the Green Point Shales. If it is Kerogen, frankly we can forget it. If it is liquid oil trapped there, then we are in with a chance. The report published by CIVC says that the Green Point Shales are 'within the oil window' which is encouraging, because I take it to mean that the shale has already been 'cooked' by heat and pressure below gound and has released its oil.

Regards

Dunnock
