Yes, it had occurred to me that "valiant" could mean "heroic," reflecting that they managed to have a successful exploratory well because of their determined efforts, despite all the problems they encountered. But, the translation was horrible and it's obvious that Inpex was trying very hard to not reveal any details. It almost makes me wonder whether the government of Suriname stepped in and forced Inpex to put out some kind of press release.
