Gold and friends

I was in the doctors office years ago wiaiting in my room for the doctor. This particular office had "thin walls"

The doctor was in the room next to mine with a patient. The patient was 65 years of age. He had stopped smoking 20 years prior.

The doctor studdered and selected his words very carefully. The doc finally said the words," you have cancer" The man took it very well but you could feel the tension in the air. The doctor could not help him any further but refered him to another doctor.

I never met that particular person but I did see the watery eyed doctor as he entered my room. I don't believe he wanted to comment but he said.."It is never easy to tell someone they have cancer...It never gets easier."

I have also had many persons that I have worked with explain to me that they have cancer, that their wife has cancer. It doesn't matter who has the cancer or what type....It is always the same...

If you have ever been in this situation, just being exposed to this stops your world for a about a day/week. The person is tottaly helpless. These are small framed quiet persons, large intimidating persons, but it is always the same. It is not what they say. It is the look of total fear in their eyes and their soul.

They are no longer concerned about stocks and money or who is playing in the superbowl.

Depression sinks in, they lose weight, many elect for chemo or radiation and the hair is lost. Many lost their voices in the case of throat cancer.

I have cried with them, tried to comfort them... I have closed and carried their kaskets, I still visit the grave sites.

I speak in past tense but in reality I have three employees currently going through the early stages of this terrible disease. It is an ongoing circle of diagnosis to burial.

A few have beaten it...They have told me that every day they wonder is it back?

Now we have a true test that can detect cancer early. Yes early enough to erase some of the future fears and tears. I am damn tired of going to funerals for cancer patients. I don't mind the 85 year old that lived a great life...but the young tear my heart out.

Now if you and the others want to continue tearing apart the one company who may some day soon wipe your tears dry or that of your grandchild I will see you in hell. we can discuss it over the flames.

You are toying with peoples lives and emotions for whatever reason it may be. Be careful. Life goes fast enough. You may be the one shedding a tear when you could have been the one to instead fix this terrible disease.
Have a great day.
