Looks like Choi Fong Cho created the BBB spheroids while working as a postdoctoral fellow in Sean Lawler's lab at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School. 

Blood-brain-barrier spheroids as an in vitro screening platform for brain-penetrating agents.

So very likely that xB3 has been through the "spheroid challenge" in my opinion.
