Michigan hit with the 3rd worst snowstorm in their history.
Faced with 10 degrees Fahrenheit temps (forget about the "windchill" out there on the tarmac, and keep in mind that these exercises are done at night) and 4' high snow drifts.
All the facilities were shutdown yesterday, and today's conditions aren't much better.
Any exercises scheduled at this time will have to be post-poned.............
Hang in there guys.....this will happen, just as sure as we know that in the very near future the snow will melt and the temperatures will rise again.
(LOL, I for one believe that today's horrendous conditions just add to the realism of the test, but apparently the FAA doesn't feel the same).
Good things come to those that can wait.
This will happen........just requires a little more patience and a little more co-operation from Mother Nature..............
Living here in the Northeast and experiencing this weather, my advice right now........hold and accumulate, and just try to stay warm and dry. Allow me to explain:
The mini requires the presence of about FIFTY government personnel, and not all of them are on site at all times.
In other words, some (probably at least half) have to fly in the day before the test....even though the test is done at night, the government employees can't put in more than 8 hours per day or fly on their own time, so the best that can happen is that they fly in the day before and then start work the next day at like 5 PM....and then fly out on the following day.
In other words, scheduling the test requires the co-ordinating of the schedules of about 25 VIP FAA workers all for the same 3 day consecutive period.
That is not something that can be done at a moments notice.
So......rest assured.....there are very competent people very high up in the FAA right now co-ordinating schedules and putting their heads together to come up with the next feasible date (and keeping Mother Nature in mind at the same time so as not to have that problem rear its ugly head once again)................
