Perhaps Correa is finally showing his true colours, now his constitution is approved and he has vastly increased the presidential powers. Maybe he's the "bad guy" all along wanting more and more at the expense of the "evil foreign companies".
Who knows, he could turn out to be another Alberto Fujimori (of Peru). Remember him? A seemingly squeaky clean academic turned president turned fugitive (for corruption) hiding in Japan, and finally cut a deal and returned to Peru.
Absolute power corrupts absolutely. It's not just in South America, it's been proven to be true through history. Remember a guy named Julius Caesar awhile back?
