Thank you for sharing your analysis of the situation, Aita. I find many thought-provoking somments on this Forum. You, obviously are into this PM scene in considerable depth.
One comment I wish you would expand upon if and when time permits is: "I think Kinross shares are a viable way to participate in what I expect will be a runup in the gold price after the election". I am a Kinross shareholder and have been pondering whether to disinvest, or hold for the reason you suggest.
Emotionally, I had decided to ditch Kinross for their dirty work at the cross-roads. Now, I am tempted to stay aboard on the assumption they will seize and be able to hold and develop eventually FDN. BUT, thinking about their Russian exposure, I notice Medvedev just now has been making ominous noises about a gold miner.
I don't have the resources to thoroughly research all the angles, but do you think FDN would more than offset complete write-off of the Russian investment? Or if it is a wash, do you feel the rest of Kinross is as good a gold play as the other majors? Maybe it is expecting too much to ask for your opinion on such a complex subject, but FWIMBW I toss it out.
Thanks for your encouraging leadership!
