Ecuador: new constitution with five hundred items

The new draft constitution finalized on Thursday in Ecuador has nearly five hundred articles, which should move immediately to the analysis of a drafting committee composed of lawyers before it is considered final proposal.

The chairman of the Assembly, Fernando Cordero, stressed in a press conference, hours before finishing the last session, that "democratically articles were approved during all sessions."

In the final game were approved just over 120 articles on topics such as protection of life from conception, voluntary social security for migrants, protection of traditional knowledge and technologies - such as indigenous medicine - collective rights of indigenous people , Among others.

The unexpected fact of the day occurred at the beginning of the night, when the bloc official revealed for the first time since November, an internal cracking, and failed to approve an amendment to the structure of the Supreme Court.

The Editorial Committee, which will receive on Friday approved the nearly 500 articles, will have until July 24 to deliver the final texts and one day after the Assembly intends to present the final draft of the new constitution and immediately complete their work.

Apart from the new Magna Carta, the Assembly has also approved 13 "mandates" (laws), taking advantage of its legislature, which came into effect immediately on issues like hiring, regulation of wages in the public sector and regulation mining sector.
