Jaime Damerval believes that seizure is political suicide

The lawyer for TC Television described as injudicious and impolitic the measure taken by the Deposit Guarantee Agency (AGD) in seizing the TV channels as part of the assets of the directors of Filanbanco.

In this regard, he told Citynoticias (89.3 FM in Guayaquil) that TC Television has no link with the administration of Filanbanco, as its owner was not the manager of the bank in question, plus Gamavision also does not belong to that family.

Damerval said it is impolitic because he believes it is a decision that could affect the electoral process. He emphasized that the manager of the AGD has committed an offence to claim an attribution that now belongs exclusively to the Supreme Court (CSJ), the body that is responsible for the case.

"It's political suicide, because international public opinion will view this as equivalent to the hijacking or seizure made by Hugo Chávez in Venezuela," said Damerval.

And although he admitted that he still must review all the documentation, he assured that they would take legal action before the seizure.
