Seven months of work, and only 163 out of 534 articles have been finished.
Given that the Special Drafting Committee must have 24 hours to review the finished document (syntax and spelling errors, potential conflicts and duplications) before submitting it to the full Assembly which then has from July 20 to July 25 for review and debate, that means the balance of 371 articles have to be finished in just 13 days.
Not to worry though, because these brave souls are making the ultimate sacrifice and working for "up to 8 hours a day" (that's what it says) and...wait for it... 13 hours on Sunday! Can you imagine? An entire 13 hours? But it's just one Sunday of course, because that's all they have left! This thing has to be submitted to the Special Drafting Committee no later than Sat. the 19th.
Waaahahaha!
I know otto has already done the math, but let's see where we stand, just for laughs. (12 X 8) + 13 = 109 hours to debate and ratify 371 articles. That's less that 18 minutes per article. And that's without stopping for lunch, which I'm sure is paid time. They are, after all, government employees.
Will they make it? Can they make it? Anyone care to give odds?
Now do you see why Sr. Acosta bailed?
