Turn out the Lights and start growing Melons

That's what Correa told his people if large scale mining doesn't happen.

That's right, turn out the lights, and start growing melons.

When you know that mining is THIS important to the future of your country.

Why would you do ANYTHING that would make you less welcoming than your own neighbours?

If the Ecuadorians that attended the gold show and did the Agnico tour have learned anything...it was...THEY HAVE COMPETITION

They were amazed to find out that Peru, Chile et all all had huge booths at the show trying to SELL mining companies on coming to their country. Did Ecuador have free java, danishes, and fancy slide presentations? Nope. Still growing melons. Now they know. Now Raphael knows.

Viva large scale mining. No to WFT. No to reduced concessions. No to melon growing.
