May 30 (Bloomberg) -- The following table shows the best- performing and worst-performing stocks in the Standard & Poor's/TSX Composite Index for the past week.
BEST PERFORMING
UEX Corp. (UEX CN, +16% The exploration company said drilling C$4.73) expanded uranium zones at its property in
northern Saskatchewan, and it expects a
mining feasibility study this year.
Sino-Forest Corp. (TRE +15% The forest-products company that runs CT, C$20.80) plantations in China rose in two of the last
three weeks after it said first-quarter
profit jumped 26 percent on sales of wood
used to make pulp.
Timminco Ltd. (TIM CN, +11% Chief Executive Officer Heinz Schimmelbusch C$30.50) reiterated that the company will boost output
of solar-grade silicon to 14,400 metric tons
next year from 3,600 this year.
Shore Gold Inc. (SGF CN, +10% The mining company said it recovered 1,310 C$3.48) commercial-sized diamonds from 10 batches of
samples from its Fort a la Corne project in
Saskatchewan.
Aurelian Resources Inc. +10% The company is developing of a gold deposit (ARU CN, C$4.70) in Ecuador. Gold rose 1.1 percent Friday, the
first increase this week.
