Peru's mining exports reached $6.16 billion between January and April

Lima, May 23 (ANDINA).- Between January and April this year, mining exports reached 6.16 billion dollars, representing an increase of 28.1 percent compared to the same period last year, informed today the Commission for the Promotion of Peruvian Exports and Tourism (Promperu).
This growth is driven by higher exports of cooper and gold, which reached 2.65 billion dollars (45.1 percent) and 1.74 billion dollars (41.5 percent), respectively.
Promperu highlighted the gold quotes reached an average value of 914.7 dollars by ounce in the year’s first months.
Copper exports were mainly destinated to China, Japan, and United States, while gold exports were destinated to Switzerland and Canada.
Traditional exports totaled 1.97 billion dollars in the fourth month of the year, 19 percent over the amount obtained same period last year. Between January and April, exports reached 7.75 billion dollars representing a growth of 28.6 percent.
