safe....there is nothing terribly wrong on this board anyway. It's like a conversation in real life and it drifts from time to time.....no biggie. Nobody here is trying to harm anyone like on SH. You have to have leeway or you have a dictatorship, EH?

No, message boards are NOT like a conversation in real life. In real life, you can see the people involved. Here, unless someone tells you, you have no idea what their age, gender, nationality, race, or religion are. For that reason alone you should tread carefully when discussing those topics.

As for dictatorships, no one here is depriving you of your political rights. This is a private message board, not the House of Commons. The rules are posted on the door. They are not hard to understand or follow. All that's required is a little self-discipline.

Finally, how many people who might have had something significant to add to the discussion have arrived here, flipped through the first page or two, seen the polemics and personal insults and decided, nope, nothing new here. More that a few I'd guess, and that's everybody's loss.
