Gee, I thought Moales and Chavez were the evil twins? No, better yet, Chavez, Correa and Morales were the identical evil triplets! The media will paint all with the same brush, even if the opposite is true.

The Washington/Wall St. Axis will always put the worst possible spin on any attempt to escape their orbit. This says nothing about the quality of the attempt, simply that such impulses are not welcomed.

Hmmm, Correa; which model is he likely to follow? Like Morales and Bolivia, Correa and Ecuador shall separate and vindicate themselves from the likes of Chavez, no matter what those with corrupt agendas will try and tell you.

Here is where the difficulty lies. When it come to a choice of models, it is not the easiest thing to convince people that a duly constituted free market system is the best course to follow. In the eyes of many, this is associated with rapacious exploitation. The difference between Monopoly Capitalism and Free Enterprise is not well understood in these parts, whereas the struggle for liberation from Colonial Powers is.

That the liberation model today follows a Socialist/Communist ideology with the State as the center of power is largely a 20th Century phenomena brought on by the struggle of two superpowers esposing diametrically opposed political views.

However, if one studies the writings of the great Simon Bolivar, it is fairly obvious what his motives and intent were. From Wikipedia:

"He was great admirer of the American Revolution and a great critic of the French Revolution. BolĂvar described himself in his many letters as a "liberal" and defender of the free market economic system. Among the books he traveled with when he wrote the Bolivian Constitution were Montesquieu's Spirit of the Laws and Adam Smith's Wealth of Nations"

At this point, Chavez is the role model of how NOT to run a country, right next door to a couple of countries with big decisions to make....

I suspect Chavez and Morales haven't done as much reading as Correa.
