The mining Aurelian dismissed most of its workers and suspended the work of extraction in Ecuador. The decision was taken following the adoption of the Mandate Miner, in the Assembly.
Some 360 employees left the company. According to the Mandate, activities will be stopped until the new law.
"During this pause will meet our obligations," he said in a statement its chairman, Patrick Anderson.
To avoid the impact of the Mandate, through which suspending activities and concessions are reversed, the Executive aims to have the new law before the deadline given by the Assembly, which is 180 days.
"We want to give an immediate response and not paralyze (activities) six months," said the minister Galo Chiriboga.
Meanwhile, industry representatives asked the Government to sponsor four reforms to Mandate. This was stated by the president of the Chamber of Mines, Cesar Espino.
The changes indicate the number of concessions, exploration in protected areas, reversals by lack of investment and delivery of concessions to former employees of the Ministry.
