If Raphael gets his way there will be no Congress at all.

It is also widely thought that Correa will indeed hold an early election post referendum. He has reiterated this a few times now, most recently on November 9th, 2007:

Correa said he wants the Constituent Assembly to effectively shut down Congress, call for early presidential and legislative elections, and limit the scope of traditional political parties, which have been widely blamed for toppling three presidents in ten years.

Well, Congress is gone already - Correa dismissed them by presidential decree - which he has the authority to do - and replaced them with Assembly members. Elections for Congress should be held this fall, but what's your source that he's going to run at that time? I haven't seen that anywhere (not that it's incorrect).

I suppose he could run... ride the wave of popularity over his stellar economic performance and deft handling of the mining mandate...heh. I'm sure he'd get lots of votes from Loja and Zamora-Chinchipe.

Just what the country needs right now too - another presidential election. I just don't see it happening, regardless what of he says. What they say, and what they do are often two different things. I thnk we all know that by now.
