I don't think any of us had a problem with them wanting to make sure the claims are being worked. Most governments require that.

The reality is that Aurelian has done everything right. They have engaged with the local community. They have built infrastructure and provided employment.

They have identified many drill targets on their concessions and were slowly working their way through them. If the Ecuador government had no gotten in the way they would be far more advanced on this than they are.

They are now rewarded for this with the loss of the majority of their concessions.

Another example of no good deed goes unpunished.
