I share many of your frustrations however what I found positive about that article was the mere fact that they finally stated publicly their willingness to be flexible. The Ecuador came out months ago with this firm statement on WT. Now they realize it cannot be implemented in that form but they still need to save face with the people.
I personally don't care what they call it in the end as long as it is fair and reasonable to all sides. At the end of the day it can be nothing but otherwise the government and people of Ecuador get nothing. No one likes the term WT but I think in the end we'll find that there will be certainty and fairness here.
CTQ and Aurelian have been very positive on the negotiations as well. Correa needs to get this done in short order so we should all know something soon.
