Ecuador onto Assembly Spying
Quito, Apr 1 (Prensa Latina) Organized groups responding to managerial interests and political parties are accused Tuesday of spying activities in the Constituent Assembly, that institutions president Alberto Acosta denounced.
Acosta made this statement during a military sector meeting behind closed doors, which discarded any interference in the Assembly.
The leader pointed out that Attorney General's office is investigating those spying and intelligence groups which use technology and new equipment the police do not even have.
Acosta was informed that monitoring can only be done if a judge authorizes the Attorney's office, in accordance with the Penal Code article 155.
He complained about the lack of legal framework to control intelligence activities in the country and requested to regulate that labor in the new Constitution.
The top Assembly representative stressed that the future legislation must include controlling "the National Congress or the entity that represents the Legislative Power, the Justice Supreme Court and the Citizen Power" on covert actions.
