Chretien had quadruple heart bypass surgery back in October, I think. Last I heard he's been getting better and writing his memoirs!

I think he was involved with the Kinross and Bema deal. Some time before the deal, he went and talked to Putin about Canadian companies that were working in Russia. Of course, he wasn't P.M. then. He was the leader of a Canadian trade group.
