No force majeure for Petroecuador

Ecuador's state oil company, Petroecuador has revised a decision to declare force majeure and halt oil exports today after a key pipeline was shut by a landslide, the company President Fernando Zurita said.

"We changed our decision and are going to do a by-pass and use the private pipeline to transport crude," Zurita told Reuters.

This export pipeline, which has the capacity to pump 400,000 barrels of oil per day was halted after a landslide hit the line.

The pipeline pumps most of the oil extracted by Petroecuador in the Amazon jungle to ports on the Pacific Ocean. The Trans-Ecuador link is one of two pipelines that transport oil from the Amazon to ports. Petroecuador produces around 258,468 bpd.
