The company whose shareholders were better than its management
Hello Kerrisdale,
I know you have been stating this theory of Acosta and his wife were behind Soto's news articles....Now after this report from Sylvia, and the description of "the Acostitas" of the Assembly" I am tending to be on your side of this explanation of the internal politics of Ecuador.
Hopefully Correa can convince his "Followers"(who are decreasing in size) that the only way to have Ecuador join the 21st century, is to welcome mining to their economy! What else do they have to offer?
Some oil... if they don't screw that program up all together!
Nobody wants an open pit mine next door to them...except for those who wants jobs in order to feed their children better, but the country has to look towards better conditions for its population! Which are some of the most impoverished
Correa's job is now to convince the Acostas of his country that the mining can be done properly! Maybe underground, as stated in this article (ARU is in a great position in regards to this possibility), is the way he can get it done.
These negotiations that the government and the mining companies are in at this time, are the folcrum point for Ecuador's future! If they don't satisfy the miners and the population...things could be hung up for a long time trying to fix what ever didn't agreed upon the first time...that why they are so important now to get things right!
I hope they take enough time to work things out in the beginning, even if it shakes our investor's nerves for a while, because they need to get the laws and royalty issues finalized to everybody's satifaction to make this all work smoothly...otherwise foriegn investors will stay away, and things will stagnate quickly...then everybody loses....
You have convinced me about the Acostas,
Long for Cash
