Message: Radical reforms in Ecuador: an example for Canada?

Sakinkoylu,

Thanks for posting that article....it might have been trying to stimulate Canadian politics in its description of Ecuadorian current events, but it gave us a very detailed look at who Correa really is, and what his policies are trying to accomplish.

This was a better description of the man and his history, than I had seen before....and this from a Canadian who has lived the last 12 years in Ecuador!....Roger Hollander has seen the worst of Ecuadorian politics in those years, and to now see how one man can start to turn a country around from an elite ruling class to "a democratically elected government of the people" is truly inspiring!

I think we as shareholders in ARU should be happy to be doing business with a leader who is thinking whole-heartedly about his country and its people....who isn't making his decisions to benefit his campaign contributors or "special interest groups" like most of the rest of the World's politcians do!

Companies might have to give up more than they would like to in negotiations, but I don't think that will happen in ARU's case, because of our social and enviromentally responsible management. ARU has shown from the beginning that they had planned on being a better company in all of these areas that Correa considers primary to his running of a new economy for his fledgling nation...in fact they are a glowing example for Correa to hold up to the rest of the mining community....ARU's mangement has shown Ecuador that mining can benefit them and their living conditions.

We shareholders can really thank ARU for being so far sighted and caring to the country that is "hosting" our soon to be share wealth!

Just my thoughts on this article, and Correa, the man,
