Peruvian precious metals miner Buenaventura (NYSE: BVN) is eyeing possible expansions into northern Mexico and other parts of Latin America, according to newspaper Gestión.
Last week the company reported plans to open an office in Argentina with a view to exploring in San Juan province.
The newspaper said Buenaventura may also be interested in Brazil and Ecuador as other destinations for growth.
Buenaventura is a gold and silver producer but has only had operations and explorations in Peru so far.
"Each time we've found an alternative for mining investment abroad we've also discovered a better one in Peru," company CEO Roque Benavides told the paper.
"We have defined that our area of development is Latin America," Benavides added.
