If I'm not mistaken, I believe Mongolia's windfall tax is 35% at $650.00/ounce gold and higher (someone correct me if I'm wrong).
What prompted the sudden change in mining royalties was due to serious protests from locals , demanding the government get Mongolia (Mongolians) their fair share of the profits from Mongolia's resources.
I believe the mining industry has hit a brick wall over there now....The President with his veto power could have stopped the tax changes, but he didn't...
