It will guarantee no major producers will purchase an ARU or a DMM. If barrick pays 3 billion for ARU and then spends another one billion building the mine, then spends $200.00 to $400.00 to get each ounce out of the ground, then it will need to be able to retrieve all profits to get their return on investment.
If this wind-fall tax is true, then kiss goodbye to any meaningful mining industry in Ecuador.
I am leaning towards believing that it cannot possibly be true. A wind-fall tax of 70% in the mining industry will absolutely kill it before it grows....
