The US investing community is not very up on mining companies and has never really had a great desire to buy mining ( gold in particular) stocks.  The greenies are real hard on mining in the US and there are not many US mining stocks of note left.

Since Homestake was bought out only Newmont comes to mind.

Can anyone name five or ten more of any size?

I look at FCX as a copper stock...but I guess they qualify.

Just curious as Nevada still has a lot of Gold but very few US Gold Mining Companies?
