AurCrest Gold acquires 108 claims near Red Lake
2011-04-11 11:08 ET - News Release
Mr. Ian Brodie-Brown reports AURCREST GOLD ANNOUNCES CONTINUED STAKING IN EAST RED LAKE AurCrest Gold Inc. has acquired a further 108 mining claim units totalling 4,320 acres located 110 kilometres east-northeast of Red Lake, Ont. The company's newly acquired claims are 100 per cent owned in the northern part of the Birch Lake greenstone belt (east Red Lake), situated to the northwest and contiguous to the AurCrest Richardson Lake property, which is adjacent to the Springpole Lake gold discovery. The claims were staked by AurCrest, in order to acquire the favourable volcanic geological trend north of Mink Lake and south of Blondin Lake located to the northwest of the AurCrest Discovery zone situated on the north shore of Richardson Lake. The newly acquired ground hosts a number of historic gold occurrences which were sporadically explored in the 1980s. The company has now staked a total of 602 claim units in east Red Lake since late December, which adding to its Richardson Lake property, brings its holdings in the area to 699 claim units totalling 27,960 acres. The properties are distributed in two major blocks. The first block constitutes a major expansion of Richardson Lake and is contiguous to the Springpole gold project operated by Gold Canyon Resources Inc. The second block covers the northeast-trending Swain Lake deformation zone and a series of gold occurrences in the center of the Birch Lake greenstone belt located 15 kilometres southwest of the Springpole gold project.
