The 'letter' was a good update in my opinion, and I think it has confirmed a lot of what I expected. It would have helped the share price if this was released sooner and might have stabilized the stock instead of the slide from the 70 cent range down to the 30's. However, better late than never, I suppose.
TO did allude and confirm a few things that has been the banter on the boards. Firstly, many had speculated that TO would be trying to build Alda to a point that it might attract possible suitors for acquisition. I believe this is the first time we've heard it mentioned from TO itself as it applies to Alda. It seems to to fit the puzzles as we have seen Alda systematically apply for patents for it's T36 formulation in large-scale markets, and now exposure of the company via the Olympics. The ultimate goal of getting approval of a pre-surgical anticeptic by the FDA will get their foot in the door and a piece of the big healthcare market in the US. While it sounds like there must be extensive clinical trials to complete the certification, it should not take as long as other IND applications as it is topical versus one that is injected or orally ingested.
What I think many have failed to realize is that the hand sanitizer is not the core business for Alda. It really has been the media to put the T36 formula into the (pardon the pun) hands of the public. The T36 brand will be seen by millions around the world both on TV and by visitors alike. What do you think the chances that of a CEO or VP of a big pharmaceutical company seeing on of the advertisements or billboards? They may not think much upon Alda or T36 right now, but fast-forward a year or two down the road when once again they see T36 as a possible target for acquisition for anticeptic purposes. That sense of familiarity could mean the difference between whether an acquisition is tendered or rejected.
The scenerios are many, but the reality is that there will be many people who will see the T36 brand for the first time. Now, this can't be a bad thing, can it?
