Matrix Design Group Announces MSHA Approval for Wireless Node and Wireless CO Sensor
2009-05-05 17:21:53 - Matrix Design Group, LLC announced today the IS (Intrinsically Safe) approval of its METS 2.1 Wireless Node and Wireless Atmospheric Monitoring System (AMS) CO Sensor by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA). Both devices are designed for use in underground coal mines with Matrix’ previously approved Version 2.1 Miner and Equipment Tracking System (METS).
Newburgh, IN-
“In a year when operators are focused on reducing costs and complying with increasing regulation, we are proud to introduce the R2100W wireless node; the most cost-effective, practical option available for communicating with and locating miners on the working section.” said Matrix President Aric Pryor. “We are also proud of the approval of the WAMS-CO wireless CO Sensor; the only post-accident, wireless AMS CO sensor available.”
The METS R2100W wireless node is a lightweight, IS, battery-powered device that relays data from METS tracking tags, 2-way communication devices, or AMS sensors to the METS network. The nodes are easily carried in one hand and equipped with a detachable battery pack that allows for three months of continual operation without the need for local power connections. Battery power and wireless transmission makes for simpler section coverage & advancement.
The METS Wireless Atmospheric Monitoring Sensor (WAMS-CO) is a battery-powered, IS, hydrogen-nullifying CO sensor designed to broadcast current CO levels to the METS network. The ability to read CO data aboveground in a post-accident situation is an important safety tool for operators and rescue teams.
Since 2006, METS systems have been tracking workers and equipment in underground coal mines across the United States. While Matrix continues to be the industry leader in US tracking installations, they’re also continuing the development of additional products that complement and expand current system capabilities.
METS is distributed and supported by Delta Electric of Logan, WV, Carroll Engineering Company of Harlan, KY and Carroll West of Wellington, UT. More information on METS products and Matrix Design Group can be found at www.matrixdginc.com.
