Rajant Wireless BreadCrumbs Utilized in C4i SwitchplusIP® for Interoperability Between Multiple Radio and Communications Networks
MALVERN, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Rajant Corporation, a leading provider of rugged, high-speed mobile wireless networking systems, has been selected for C4i’s SwitchplusIP Radio Interface Unit (RIU). The Rajant portable wireless BreadCrumb® units will be integrated into the RIU platform to provide VoIP and IP data connectivity in a multi-frequency, multi-agency solution for defense, public safety, homeland security and mining customers.
“Rajant is thrilled to be selected as part of the C4i communications platform,” said Glenn Booth, VP of Marketing at Rajant. “C4i’s reach-forward and reach-back capabilities allow Command-Post, Command-Center and Mobile-Dismount operators to efficiently control deployed communications assets. The low power and rugged (MIL-STD-810F) packaging of the RIU is a good match with the Rajant wireless BreadCrumb, and performs well in hostile military and mining environments.”
The C4i RIU is a compact, ruggedized device that interfaces radios and telephony assets using Voice Over IP (VoIP) technology. It enables connection of up to 4 radios to an IP network. Serial data, audio, COR and PTT for each interface are transported using VoIP technology. The Rajant wireless BreadCrumbs will be utilized to create a high bandwidth mobile IP network for the RIU. All features of the RIU are configurable through a user friendly web browser. A version of the RIU uses a media server and provides a complete voice communications/radio dispatch solution in a single tactical package.
“We are excited about working with Rajant,” Jorge Petrovic, Vice President, Business Development for C4i Inc. “We required a rugged wireless mesh device that could provide significant bandwidth and constant connectivity, even in a mobile environment. The technical performance and support from Rajant has been second to none.”
