TORONTO, Nov. 10 /CNW/ - Active Control Technology Inc. (TSX-V:ACT)
announced today that Ante Rupcic, a senior wireless industry professional with
over 20 years of experience in project management, network implementation and
market development, has been appointed as the company's Vice President,
Operations.
Mr. Rupcic will lead the planning, production, installation and servicing
for customer deployments of ActiveMine(TM), the premier wireless
communications and locating system for mines. He brings to the role extensive
experience in wireless technology planning and project management, the design,
implementation and operations of wireless networks, as well as business and
market development.
"We welcome Ante to Active Control's leadership team and look forward to
putting his considerable wireless technology experience to work for our
customers," said Steve Barrett, President and CEO, ACT. "Ante has the right
skills and knowledge to lead successful deployments of ActiveMine networks."
A graduate of University of Toronto's Electrical Engineering program, Mr.
Rupcic most recently was the Director, Wireless Market Development, at
broadband network equipment provider Sandvine Inc., where he led the
development of new business, product and partner solutions. Prior to that, he
was Vice President, Wireless Market Development, at Internet technology
provider Slipstream Data Inc., where he led product management, marketing and
sales support efforts. Mr. Rupcic has also had senior roles in operations at
several other advanced technology firms, in North America, Europe, South
America and Asia.
Mr. Rupcic replaces Mr. Ian Oliver, who has left Active Control to pursue
other career opportunities. Mr. Barrett thanked Mr. Oliver for his service to
the company.
Mr. Rupcic has been granted 750,000 stock options exercisable at $0.10
per share until Nov. 7, 2013. His appointment is subject to regulatory
approval.
ActiveMine Order Book Expands
Active Control also announced today that the value of ActiveMine orders
from current customers has expanded by 50 percent, from about $4 million to an
anticipated $6 million, since early October. The growth reflects the expansion
of mines since existing purchase orders were first placed.
MSHA Approvals Expected Soon
Active Control provided the following update on the status of Mine Safety
and Health Administration (MSHA) approvals: the company continues to work
closely with MSHA and expects "intrinsically safe" approval of ActiveMine's
wireless mesh nodes soon, followed by approval of the telephones. ActiveMine's
RFID Wi-Fi Tags were approved by MSHA in September 2008.
