LOGAN, W.Va. — Federal and state officials in cooperation with several state associations announce the first Safety Summit for Small Coal Mines to expand communications and health and safety information with the mining industry and mine workers. The meeting is Wednesday, Sept. 17, at the Chief Logan Lodge in Logan, W.Va., and is aimed at underground coal mines with fewer than 50 miners. The goal of this meeting is to supply attendees with the most up-to-date information on a wide variety of safety issues important to small mines operating in the West Virginia and Kentucky region.
Two state-specific workshops for West Virginia and Kentucky mining operations will be presented concurrently.
The seminar will be at the Chief Logan Lodge, Hotel and Conference Center in Logan, and can be reached by calling 304-855-6100. Special room rates are $70. Participants are responsible for making their own hotel reservations. For more information about the meeting, contact Lou Prosser at 412-386-4423.
