Atac adds to Carlin-type discoveries in Yukon
Strong gold intercepts roll in for Atac as it drills a new discovery and adds continuity in a recently discovered deep zone at Conrad.

HALIFAX, NS (MINEWEB) -
Atac Resources' latest drillholes from the Yukon are worth a bit of attention given they represent growing gold discoveries in an emerging district of Carlin-type deposits.
First off, Atac made a new discovery in mid-September with its first drillhole on a kilometre-long gold-in-soil anomaly 10 kilometres away from its better known Conrad, Osiris, Isis and Isis East zones (more on that in a moment). In the maiden drillhole Atac hit 9 metres @ 19.85 g/t gold, which included as much as 1 metre @ 78.60 g/t Au.
According to Canaccord in its Morning Coffee newsletter a Toronto-based analyst described the discovery as "very positive" and "very significant" as it meant: "1. discoveries are being made at surface; 2. the discoveries are being detected by straightforward prospecting, geochemistry, drilling; and 3. the pace of discovery continues to be high given the limited field season."
In fact, a fourth point might be added to the list. As noted by Mineweb back in August, Atac recently drilled deeper gold mineralization at its better known Conrad zone with as much as 57 metres @ 4.68 g/t Au. Now Atac, with a series of additional drillholes along strike, has added more strong gold intercepts at depth, suggesting some continuity of the deeper gold discovery, and then, in addition, parallel gold zones.
One drillhole stood out with a series of seven separate gold hits over about 300 metres vertical extent beneath the main Conrad zone. Starting from the top the intercepts were: 7.02 g/t Au over 13 metres; 4.72 g/t Au over 7 metres; 2.18 g/t Au over 18 metres; 5.2 g/t Au over 28 metres (including 4 metres @ 11.51 g/t Au); 3.49 g/t Au over 18 metres; 4.38 g/t Au over 24.39 g/t Au; and, finally, 4.54 g/t Au over 9 metres.
Expect more drilling results from Conrad and Anubis in the coming months as Atac said it would drill into early October with four drillrigs turning.
