Business Owner Fires 22 Employees "Because Obama Won"

- Friday, November 9th, 2012

After Virginia, once again, went blue and Obama achieved another presidential victory, Lyons Jewelers in Bedford, Virginia closed shop Wednesday. The signs outside the business-door read that they were closed to "mourn the loss of the America that our forefathers endowed to us,” according to WDBJ7.

Here's another sign that was posted at Lyons's entrance:

Further west, a Vegas employer actually fired 22 of his 114 employees with the sole reason being that Obama won the election.

The above mentioned employer asked to remain anonymous for obvious reasons but he did interview with CBS. Here's what he had to say for himself:

I’ve done my share of educating my employees. I never tell them which way to vote. I believe in the free system we have, I believe in the right to choose who they want to be president, but I did explain as a business owner that I have always put my employees first. I always made sure that when I went without a paycheck that [I] made sure they were paid. And I explained that I always put them first and unfortunately I’m at a point where I’m being forced to have to worry about me and my family now and a business that I built from just me to 114 employees.

I explained to them a month ago that if Obama gets in office that the regulations for Obamacare are gonna hurt our business, and I’m gonna have to make provisions to make sure I have enough money to cover the payroll taxes, the additional health care I’m gonna have to do, and I explained that to them and I said you do what you feel like in your heart you need to do, but I’m just letting you know as a warning this is things I have to think of as a business owner.

This man and other CEOs warned employees about this weeks and months ago, and it sounds like they weren't bluffing. With taxes so high and health care costs expected to rise, many small business employers have found themselves in between a rock and a hard place.

Many of them were hoping to see a businessmen take over the White House. That's what Mr. Lyons from the jewelry store told WDBJ7 he was rooting for. Feeling disenchanted with the loss, he took a personal day for himself and his business to begin a “mourning” process for America.

One unhappy customer hung up a sign in response to My Lyon's sign: "I am sorry you feel this way!!! I do bussiness (sic) I guess I will take it somewhere else!!"

These are just a couple examples of how dramatically some constituents are responding to Tuesday's election. The pressure is definitely on Obama to make something substantial of this term.
