the math is not even close ... if there is that much real gold ... its worth a lot more ...
the article reports 7.1 million $'s worth which if you divide
7,170,000 by 1708 = 4198 ounces .. not even two tonnes
if there is 700 tons the value of the missing gold is
700 x 2000 x 14.5833 (troy ounces in 1 lb) x $1708
= 34,871,658,700
thats 34 billion with a B.
Incidentally, whoever would send that kind of gold on a single ship would have that boat heavily guarded and insured ... after all we are talking about over 3/4 of all Russian reserves based upon the 2010 estimated Russian gold holdings ...
I can't put much faith in that article becuase whoever wrote and their editor is so mathematically impaired as to think 700 tons x 1708 is only 7 mil ... they cant be taken seriosuly ....btw did you know that Mitt Romney is really 323,802 years old. ooops same proportional error factor on the value of the gold.
