A fasicinating 20-25 minute promotional video from the 40's extolling the virtues of the city of Hamilton. Although before my time, many of the landmarks remained prominent while I grew-up. Most are but distant memories. This was a time when Hamilton was a Canadian leader and almost the size of Toronto ... how times have changed ... very notable in the video is the lack of skyway bridge and hence the QEW (beachstrip scene). By the mid 70's Lasalle Park was around but the bay was a cesspool.
The Royal Botanical gardens (rock gardens) also typifies a time when goevrnment acted in the public interest as opposed to the bankers.
I must say although the same slide is occuring in the land down under, I do believe we have a few years to catch the level of public fund misuse which is so obviously prevalent in North American life which is well chronicled by this video.
I do hope you take the time to watch this ... if you want to know where you are headed, it never hurts to take a look back to where you have been.
