Gates bought his way into Buffets club and likes being somebody ... even if Augusta wouldn't have him ... his good fortune was IBM's under estimation of what the PC world would become and hence Gates monopoly with DOS ... nothing like a monopoly to be able to flood the world with inferior products ... After IBM bought lotus and then began updating their own software to work with MS products before their own ... I knew they knew they had lost the operating system and software wars and they reshaped themself into a consulting company ... good timing with the demise of Arthur Anderson et. al (thanks to Bre-X).

Today ms is living on old crap as Apple boots them around and having bought my first apple product (IPOD) last year (couldn't find an MP3 player with more than 8 gb for storing my cd library) I am certain apple is heading down the path IBM followed by MS.

Fo those with massive staying power who can handle serious margin calls, the absolute best investment over the next 5 years will be to short apple.
