No doubt all these things will come to pass, but from a personal standpoint I find the more I'm able to talk to people anywhere anytime, the less I actually want to. It's to the point now that I don't even own a cell phone. I figure the small risk of having to walk to the gas station is worth not being bothered every five minutes by someone who basically has nothing to say and just wants to "chat."
There's a kind of irony here that just doesn't come through in the marketing. The main use of this technology I've noticed, is to offset the feeling of isolation that goes with life in the modern world. In a sense we've come full circle. The same technology that isolated us now rescues us from our isolation. Maybe it's even an improvement? At least now I can shut them off!
