perhaps get rid of the penny ... although prices in OZ (specifically grocery) may end in fractions of a nickel, the final amount owed is rounded down to the nearest nickel at a total bill of .01, 02, 06, 07 ... up at 03, 04, 08, 09 ... the saving of coinage and not having pennies in your change makes far more sense than new materials. Make the nickel the smallest coin or use the penny as the 5 cent piece and and eliminate the more expensive to make nickel.
