All of what you say makes sense, but how do we get there from here? The solution (short of revolution) is massive political change, starting with throwing out the incumbents. Forget party loyalties, if the rep in your area is an incumbent, toss him out. Throw your vote to the opposition on the understanding that the first bill before Congress on the new watch shall be campaign finance reform including the elimination of lobby groups, followed by term limits. If that doesn't happen, throw him out too.

I know, it has a snowball's chance in hell of every happening, so I guess we just hunker down and wait for the collapse. Hell, you can't even short this sucker because you don't know if your counterparty will even be there after the dust settles.
