Doomsday Scenarios

We may not make much money, but we sure have a lot of fun!
The need for mobility of wealth as suggested by the following raises some interesting points
http://jsmineset.com/2010/10/31/the-utility-of-gold/
In addition to market and banking collapses during the warm-up depression 1929 -35, society faced some natural disasters which exacerbated the devastation. The dust bowl was the drought conditions causing fairly massive crop failures further impoverishing people. The potato famine in Ireland and harvest failures in other countries as well as disease and plagues have gone a long way in dealing with surplus population and better manage dismayed citizens.
What can be the current ways to achieve these convenient "natural" events ... In terms of poor crops I'm sure Monsanto knows exactly what to do to cause a poor or diseased harvest.
Fluoride (could it be an adjuvunt) in the water, (notice the enormous backlash to bottled water fluorideless, yet all that plastic still used in all other beverages), flu shots ... last years scare had people scrambling for an uneeded injection of whatever government might be using to reduce your immunity to whatever comes next.
Conspiracy therorists have always seemed to me to be a bit off the wall, yet today given what we have seen in the financial markets in the U.S., Central Bank behaviours, lies about the war for democracy or Saddam, or Al Qaeda in Iraq and or their counterparts, in Iran, Costa Rica, Guatemala, El Salvandor, Panama, Cuba, Venezuela etc. make not believing in government acting in society's interest harder to believe than in a giant conspiracy.
Seems most people on this board recognize that gold and silver are the place to be for a few obvious reasons ... especially the printing of money ... the Jsmineset article suggests the need for gold to support mobility.
Owning physical gold protects against the ultimate doomsday scenario be it a result of natural market/financial deterioration or assisted deterioration.
Regardless of the source, sadly, that deterioration looks inevitable. IMO, given gov't intervention in the markets they have to be stupid to not link them as supporters of a conspiracy.
This board has numerous intelligent and excellent posters ... am I alone in this thought? Are there others that have taken/taking precautions, perhaps extraordinary precautions to insulate oneself from what appears to be inevitable?
Looking forward to hearing from the brethern.
