We may not make much money, but we sure have a lot of fun!
It's all very interesting and probably wise in theory . But when the markets fell and the world economy nearly came to a stand stil by the end of the summer , begining of fall 2008 , if the administration of the time in concert with high administration people ( treasury and the fed ) , along with white house running candidates had not not taken the decision to so drasticaly and dramaticaly stimulate the economy and bail out the financial system , what we describe now as a recession would have been a downright depression of a magnitude that could have been worse then the so called great depression . No one can tell exactly what would have happened , but in retrospect we now know the world wide financial system was about to collapse and following such an event international trading would have been greatly impaired causing political troubles that could have had repercussions we'd rather not think about . The PIIIGS country would probably have have turned into a whole sentence rather then a single word and we'd probably be looking by this time at extreme economic and social measures world wide in order to keep the population across the world in survival mode . I believe it would have radicalised many political regimes on all continents and the future would look quite worst then it does now , even if we have many reasons to fear as it is now . But in my mind the greatest mistake would have been to let the world population , the average person and those more vulnerable in a situa tion where life would have been so tough for years to come that many dramas would have unfolded causing untold deaths and suffering . The condittions of 1929 could not repeat themselves in the same ways , the world has changed and world population has grown manyfolds since then , the capacity for destruction has outgrown even man's wildest dreams and the insanity of those in control is the same as ever . The price to pay to preserve the world population from catastrophic events was to bail out the greedy idiots that caused the problem , those ones who believe they don't share in human condition until the day they have to face their own death . Some will argue future generation will have to pay the price for that , absolutely they will , but the same could be said if nothing had been done and maybe in worst ways then what they now have to face . I once cited the following here , but i will once again . A french thinker by the name of Valery once said " La verite n'est pas toujours vainqueur mais ses ennemis finissent par mourir . " The truth does'nt always win but it's ennemies end up dying . " I'm not sure the truth always survives us or them , but as long as mankind will exist some truth will surface along the lies and the illusions , imo mankind's greatest gift is not it's capacity to analyse and understand , it's it's courage to face face the dilemmas of a brutal reality . In that respect some people at that time in 2008 showed some of that courage and tried something rather then doing nothing , that's the responsability they have to assume in times like those . Wether or not they took the best decisions we'll never know and critics wil ponder the question for years to come , as for the greedy sob who thrived and are still profiting because of their privileged situation they will have no remorse counting their profits thinking they deserve it all and much more , since after all their gods meant it to be , or their superior intelligence and gifts make them deserve it .
